I know, it's sad. I've "been" doing the e-dating thing with them since February. It has been like a mixed bag o' nutz. Let me share some of my findings.
You can't help it but feel like you're at a virtual meat market, or one of those mail-order bride sites. You punch in what you're looking for and then you try to make heads or tails from the results. Like looking at photo albums at the police precinct downtown looking for a suspect... too awkward for me.
Then comes the "brokeness". That wonderful "Who's Viewed Me" feature. This is how it's supposed to work: whoever that has seen you and they have a visible profile, will show up there. But not when or how many times. If you pay close attention you'll soon realize that the order of the profiles listed there changes without any reasoning behind it. If you remove somebody that has viewed you, the rest get all jumbled up... it don't make sense! Wait, what's that? You say you have the option to sort them out with that little box on the top right? Go ahead use it. The one that'd be the most helpful option would be "Original order", which would put the most recent view at the top of the page. But it doesn't work either, something I had Match.com support admit to.
And since I just brought their support options, now I gottta talk about it. Bonus points for being US based, clear, long sentences are awesome. It just goes down hill from there, folks. All they do is read the FAQ's back to you and once it has gone beyond that, they just make stuff up... and sometimes it's just downright hilarious what they'll come up with.
I've gotta compliment them on their profile/photo approval turnaround time, it's usually done within a couple of hours if not less. Also, they've always picked up their 800 number without me waiting too long.
Getting back to the "Who's Viewed Me" thing. It works both ways. If someone looks at your profile they'll show up there. If you look at profiles, you'll show up on theirs. You do have the option (just like everyone else) to hide your profile. You can prowl all you want, be the stalker you always wanted to be... gottta warn you though, the moment you make your profile visible again, you'll immediately show up on their list. No matter how long you wait. But there's an easy way around this whole thing if you do want to remain anonymous and read through profiles. Just go to match.com without signing-in. Go to the search page, do the big search, you know the type of person you're looking for and whatnot's. Once you get the results, jot down the username that caught your eye. Go back to the search page but now select "Username", type in the name of your victi... er... meat cut.... er match and voila' their profile is presented to you.
Just in case you're looking for their support number (800) 926-2824.
Happy huntin'
